This is the first of many tools that I’ve been working on. Its design has gone from overly complex, to the absolute simplest version of the tool, using materials that I find to be beautiful and feel proud to hold. The brass and wood have been chosen intentionally to aesthetically tarnish with time. The wild olive handle is un-sealed, intended to seal over time from the oils in your hand - allowing for the unique story of your creative process to be embedded into the tool itself.
Its function is to extend the length of your pencils, either for being able to use pencils when they get too short to hold, or working on an easel, or even just to create a larger axis when drawing and shading large areas. It’s important to me that my pencil extender is simple, and as straight as possible. The friction fit creates a stable, sturdy grip on the pencil for accurate work.
